Submit your recommendation for the first line for Contest #8!

We will again be accepting recommendations for the first line to be used in our next contest.  Like last time, we prefer the first line of a work of fiction but are open to any interesting line from a published story.  Comment with your favorites.  If you need any prompting, think spring.  ;)

Entries will be accepted until March 26rd, 2010, midnight EST.  After which we will poll the community with our favorites to decide the winner.

In order to qualify, comment to this post with the following information:

Choose the first line for Contest #7!

Thank you all for your feedback.  Below are the finalists for first lines for Contest #7.  Choose your favorite in our poll on the right.  And a special thanks for all those who submitted.  The below are in alphabetical order:

1)  Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her and wonder what was going to happen next.

2)  She's a local.

3)  The day was grey and bitter cold, and the dogs would not take the scent.

4)  There was a hand in the darkness, and it held a knife.

And remember, the winning line will be featured in the next contest, so pick that which inspires you!
